A super-automatic machine at a semi-automatic's price, the Krups EA8250 offers do-it-all convenience at a lower price point. Unfortunately, you might get what you pay for as the grinder and steamer tend to have issues.

Krups EA8250 Super-Automatic Overview

The Krups EA8250 is a super-automatic espresso machine at a regular pump machine’s price.

That means you’ll be cramming a ton of functionality into a less expensive build, and that just doesn’t sit right with me.

I’ve owned enough kitchen appliances — and coffee machines in particular — to know this hard-and-fast rule:

You get what you pay for.

Cool features include the following:

  • Brews standard coffee as well
  • Cleaning mode for internal components
  • Large 60 oz water reservoir

I’ve used this machine and enjoyed the espresso it makes, but I didn’t put it through years of regular use. My supplemental research with those who have noted a grinder that quits after about 2-3 years.

If I’m buying super-automatic, I’m going for a four-figure, top-of-the-line machine. In this price range give me a high-quality, metallic pump espresso machine and I’ll do the grinding on my own. That said, this is a popular Krups espresso machine and there are people for which it’s the right machine.

About The Coffee Maven

Bryan De Luca

I'm Bryan but most people know me as The Coffee Maven. I grew up outside Boston, Massachusetts and received my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Providence College. My first introduction to coffee was during my college days, when I used it as a source of caffeine to fuel late-night study sessions, but soon I became obsessed with the chemistry of coffee. How did changes to water temperature or contact time affect its taste? Why do beans from Africa taste fruity while beans from Indonesia taste spicy? I launched The Coffee Maven in February 2017 to explore these questions and help others brew their perfect cup. Welcome to my site, and thanks for reading!
